The Council is focusing on four areas critical to the development and growth of Minnesota tourism:
- Tourism Awareness : Share the impact of tourism with your legislator, county commissioner, mayor and the media.
- Marketing: We are constantly improving our website and our marketing. During 2008, we focused on regional positioning as well, resulting in a new regional breakout for Minnesota.
- Funding: The Council is looking to diversify and grow tourism funding. We are being severely outspent by many of our competitors. In these difficult times, it will be important to position our industry in terms of jobs, contributions to state revenue, and economic growth.
- Partnerships such as the Seasons of Fun Partnership programs which has generated over $1 million in private sector match.
In addition, we work on program development and public policy issues at both the state and federal level.
Tourism businesses and organizations have a tremendous opportunity to ensure the continued growth and excellence of Minnesota’s tourism industry. Every effort is important.
